Undefeated WBO/WBA/IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion Sergey "Krusher" Kovalev crushed yet another opponent on July 25th at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. The favored Kovalev destroyed his first IBF mandatory contender Nadjib "Irondjib" Mohammedi - knocking out the overmatched opponent in the third round.

Kovalev - A Russian native currently residing in Los Angeles - opened the fight with a powerhouse first performance. Kovalev patiently waited to get his opponent, and took his time to toss out a few jabs. The two contenders threw jabs at one another with neither man landing anything remotely hard two minutes into the fight. Kovalev did manage to hit Mohammedi with a right to the head, but it was more glancing than anything. Kovalev then fired off two jabs to the body before being tied up by the extremely cautious Mohammedi. Determined to stay in the fight, Mohammedi - 30, of France - managed to stay on his feet into the second round, enduring the unmatched speed and precise force of his opponent.

Mohammedi's efforts couldn't gain him much in the second round, where the 'Russian Wrecking Ball' quickly dropped him with three right hands and a jab. Mohammedi beat the count, but Kovalev continued to deliver fierce punches through the end of the round.

Making his sixth title defense, Kovalev came in strong to the third round, dropping Mohammedi with a right hand and left jab to the eye. The forceful blow caused referee Kenny Bayless to intervene, calling off the match and landing Kovalev with yet another victory.

After the fight Kovalev reveled in the outcome, stating "I'm very happy that I got the victory...I think I gave a good fight."

The defeated Mohammedi added "Kovalev is a skilled fighter and it takes time [to figure him out]."
